Gruschke on Drotshang Tashi Lhunpo
Gruschke translates Drotshang Tashi Lhunpo (Dro tshang dgon bkra shis lhun po) as “the temple of the altar of medical herbs” (46 1). He doesn’t have much information on its history, though he states (on the basis of Pu 2) that Drotshang Tashi Lhunpo was established in 1619 and was a subsidiary monastery of Chutan until the eventual independence of Drotshang Tashi Lhunpo. In terms of more modern history, he lists the population of Drotshang Tashi Lhunpo in the 1930s and in 1958, and that it was reopened in 1984 with fifteen monks (46 3).
